私も、このテーマについては賛成です。

絶滅危惧種が持続的に暮らしていける豊かな自然環境を保護することは、自国の自然遺産やそれと密接に関わる文化的な遺産を残すことにつながらると思います。このような保護活動は、長期的にみると、エコツーリズムなどの観光需要を創出することにつながり、経済的な恩恵もあると思います。

Q:Is it necessary to protect endangered species from extinction?

Currently, nearly 30 % of all speices on earth are threatened with extinction and rate of extinction is accelerating, according to the International Union for Covervation of Nature’s Red List. Under the circumstances, I strongly believe that it is necessary to protect endangered speices from extinction for the following three reasons.

Firstly, the protection of endangered speices contributes to the maintence of a healthy ecosystem. Plant and animal species have an interdependent relationship that supports each other’s survival. The extinction of certain speices at the current rate will have dire consequences for the ecological balance.

Secondly, protecting endangered speices to maintain genetic biodiversity is essential to technical development. Agricultureal scientists conduct genetic experiments by making use of endangered speices’ DNA to increase crop yields and produce better farm products. Medical reserachers study genetic materials of diverse species including endangered species for medical purposes.

Finally, the conservation of endangered speices will contribute to the aesthetic value of our planet. By protecting the beauty of nature by promoting biodiversity, future generations can continute to enjoy the beauty of rich flora and fauna through recreationl pursuits such as bird watching and flower viewing.

In conclusion, for the above-mentioned three reasons, the maintenance of a healthy ecosystem, the development of agricultural and medical technologies, and the aesthetic value of biodiversity, I strongly believe in the need for protecting endangered speices.
