クリスマスカードなどに描かれていたり英国では広く親しまれているロビン（ヨーロッパコマドリ）
このロビンに関する有名な詩が、”Who Killed Cock Robin?”です。
詩の内容は、オスの（Cock）ロビンがスズメに殺されてしまい、
じゃあ葬式の準備をどうしようかと鳥を中心とした動物たちが淡々と役割を決めていくという
なんとも暗い歌詞…
伝統的な童謡（nursery rhymes）として昔は子供たちに教えられていた歌らしいです。
鳥の名前や葬式に関する用語がたくさん出てくるので、そうゆう観点では教育的ですね（笑）
歌の最後には、ロビンの死を弔って鐘を鳴らす（toll the bell）という表現があります。
Toll the bellという表現は、映画やドラマなんかを見ていると実はよく出てくる表現です。
でも詩の中では、ロビンを殺めたスズメに対する制裁は？なんで殺しちゃったの？？
という説明は私が見た詩にはありませんでしたが、歌によってはスズメが処刑されたりするものをあるらしいです。
